Biography

  • Sam is employed with Ruan Transportation Management Systems and is the Director of Account Services for the Western Dairy & Ag and inland Food Grade divisions, Industry business partners include CDI, Select Milk, Fairlife, DFA, Nestle USA, Baskin Robins, National Sugar Marketing, and Archer Daniels Midland.
  • Sam has been immersed in the transportation industry his entire life; as a child he became fascinated with the trucking aspect of the family farm. He could always be found in the shop helping with maintenance duties after school, and on weekends. If he was lucky, he would get to drive one of the trucks around the yard after they were done in the shop to practice driving. At age 16 he obtain a chauffeur’s ranch permit that allowed him to drive a commercial truck for his family, and this ignited a lifelong passion for the transportation industry.
  • Sam has over forty years of experience in the transportation industry encompassing roles in logistics, sales, safety, training and compliance. He authored a comprehensive training and evaluation guide for Dairy Farm Pick-up that is currently being used by several County and state agencies and was instrumental in the development and implementation of Redtrak, a transportation management system designed specifically for Dairy transportation, which is currently being used to manage the logistics and data collection of 12 billion pounds of raw milk annually.
  • Sam has a B.A. in Agriculture Business Management from C.S.U.F. and has attained several Industry certifications from U.C.F (CDS, CDM/E, CSCP) and U.C.S.D. (OSHA General Industry Certification) and currently serves on the Board of Directors for Dairy Cares and The United Way.
